A Rainy Day

On a rainy day it rains all day long. The sky is overcast with thick clouds. The sky is not seen. None can go out without an umbrella. Those who have offices and other business go out with umbrellas over the head, shoes in hand and clothes folded up to knee. Passers-by also move in the same way. When it rains in torrents, people get drenched and stop midway. The poor suffer much on a rainy day. They can not go out in quest of work and can not earn their daily food. Most of the students do not go to school. Other people also stay at home and pass the day without doing anything. A rainy day is not pleasant at all.

বৃষ্টির দিনে সারাদিন বৃষ্টি হয়। আকাশ ঘন মেঘে ছেয়ে গেছে। আকাশ দেখা যায় না। ছাতা ছাড়া কেউ বের হতে পারবে না। যাদের অফিস ও অন্যান্য ব্যবসা আছে তারা মাথায় ছাতা, হাতে জুতা এবং জামাকাপড় হাঁটু পর্যন্ত ভাঁজ করে বের হয়। পথচারীরাও একই পথে চলাচল করে। যখন মুষলধারে বৃষ্টি হয়, মানুষ ভিজে যায় এবং মাঝপথে থামে। বৃষ্টির দিনে দরিদ্রদের অনেক কষ্ট হয়। তারা কাজের সন্ধানে বাইরে যেতে পারে না এবং তাদের প্রতিদিনের খাবার উপার্জন করতে পারে না। অধিকাংশ শিক্ষার্থী স্কুলে যায় না। অন্যরাও ঘরে বসে কিছু না করেই দিন পার করে। বৃষ্টির দিন মোটেও সুখকর নয়।
